The Cardinals captured their first win of the season in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night, rallying back from a large defecit late to overcome a strong Hammerheads team. After the first inning, the Cardinals were down 5-0 due to some strong offensive performances from the Hammerheads along with some defensive mishaps. However, starter Ryan Carey settled down after that and got through the second inning without allowing anymore runs. The Cardinals put together 2 runs over the next two innings through strong plate discipline and aggressiveness on the basepaths. Dev Patel pitched the 3rd and 4th innings allowing just 1 run and recording the win for Wallingford after a 7 run rally in the bottom of the 4th. Jacob Bielesz pitched a scoreless 5th inning, recording the save for Wallingford as the game was called due to darkness. The Cardinals bats came alive in the 4th when a string of hits and walks led to a huge offensive output. The offensive stars were Lucas O'Reardon and Hunter Geisler who both smoked the ball in their contribution to the 4th inning rally; O'Reardon's shot went over the left fielder's head and resulted in a double. Many other Cardinals recorded hits during the inning and kept the line moving by having productive at bats during the offensive outburst. The Cardinals won by a final count of 9-6. Wallingford will play again next Wednesday when they take on TCB at Harrison Park.

The Cardinals were defeated by East Haven on Saturday night, even though they led the game going into the 7th inning. A late rally by the Cardinals erased a 5-1 deficit and put them ahead 6-5 headed into the last inning. However, failed execution on bunt defense ultimately did the Cardinals in. Turner French started the game for the Cardinals going 5 innings and allowing 5 runs, 3 earned. He was relieved by Mark DeVince who took the loss after surrendering the lead in the bottom of the 7th to the East Haven small ball. DeVince (2-2, R, 2BB), French (2-4, R, 2B, RBI), and Cody Troutman (1-1, 2R, 2RBI, 2BB) led the team offensively but it was not enough to pick up the defensive errors. Wallingford recorded 7 errors on the day, unable to get outs when East Haven was trying to give them away. Wallingford fought until the end, but the mental and physical errors were too much to overcome on the defensive side of the ball.

The Cardinals came back late against North Branford, scoring 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning to steal the game. After being shut down by North Branford pitching for the first 6 innings, the Cardinals came to life just like they did the last time the teams squared up. Nick Rascati started the game for Wallingford striking out 7 over 5 innings, giving up just 1 earned run. He left on the hook for the loss after the Cardinals recorded just 3 hits through the first 5 innings. Trevor Biel came on for the last 2 innings, giving up 1 earned run while striking out 1 and recording the win after the Wallingford offensive explosion. Joe Cassella (2-3, BB, R, SB), Cody Troutman (2-4, R), Biel (1-3, R, 2RBI, BB), and Matt Cappucci (1-3, R, BB, K) were the hitting stars for the Cardinals; all playing vital roles in the last inning rally. The Cardinals won by a final score of 7 to 2.
